WCB (Workers’ Compensation Board)

The Alpine Medical Clinic is experienced in handling WCB claims. Please inform the front desk if your injury is work-related. It is important to initiate the process at work even if your injury does not prevent you from working.

You must bring your employer details with you; name, address and telephone no. to complete the claim.

Follow-up appointments should be booked before you leave the Clinic.

 Drivers Medicals

Please be aware that a driver’s medical is an uninsured service and is not covered by Canadian Healthcare (unless you are over the age of 75).  There is a fee for this service. If you are able to book in advance you are charged a reduced fee.

Employment Physicals

This service is not covered by Canadian Healthcare and there is a charge. Costs are directly related to the requirements of the individual application. Prior to your visit check with the employer if there is a specific form the Doctor must complete and any specific test that need to be ordered.

Visa Physicals

You must call ahead to book an appointment for a Doctor to complete a Visa physical. This service is not covered by Canadian Healthcare and there is a charge. Costs are directly related to the requirements of the individual application. Please ensure that you bring all the required paperwork to your appointment.

The Alpine Medical Clinic welcomes individuals in need of urgent medical care and can accommodate minor emergencies on a Walk in basis. Our in office surgical suite is well equipped to deal with the following care:

  • Cast broken bones with waterproof casting materials
  • Administer IV Fluids and medications
  • Suture open wounds and lacerations
  • Drain abscesses
  • Dress burns and wounds
  • Perform minor procedures

If possible, please call ahead to advise us that you require assistance, so that we can prepare for your arrival. Otherwise simply walk-in and you will be seen as quickly as possible.

For free 24-hour telephone advice you can call a trained nurse at Healthlink Alberta on 1 866 408 5465. If they advise you to see a Dr then please call the clinic for an appointment or walk-in.

If you require immediate emergency attention, please call 911 or proceed to the nearest emergency department.

Soft Tissue/ Joint Injections We remove fluid and inject joints & tendons to relieve pain and improve function, with hyaluronidase products such as Synvisc & Steroids.

PRP- Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) is blood plasma that has been enriched with platelets. Injections of PRP are often used to help trigger or enhance healing in tissues that have been injured, either abruptly or over-time (repetitive strain injuries)

Prolotherapy-Prolotherapy, or proliferative therapy, is the injection of a solution (dextrose, saline, anaesthetic) to stimulate the growth of new cells to heal painful areas.

Trigger Point Injections-Trigger point injections are small amounts of anaesthetic (freezing) injected into tight motor points (or “knots”) in your muscles, using a very thin needle.

Travel advice is not covered by Alberta Health, there will be an $80 fee. We recommend you book a travel consult 6-8 weeks before you leave to ensure you can receive all the necessary immunizations. Depending on where you are travelling you may require a series of injections.

Preparing for your consult:

1. Bring your travel itinerary or at minimum a list of countries.
2. If possible please have your immunization record with you.
3. Check the website: CDC Travel advice for the most up to date information to help you prepare for your visit.

Hotel Visits

The Doctors at The Alpine Medical Clinic are pleased to provide a 24-hour hotel visit service to out-of-country patients. If you require this service please contact the clinic during office hours at 403-762-3155, or the physician on call if after hours. The on-call after hours physician will be listed on our clinic voicemail as the schedule changes.

There is a charge for this service and you are required to pay in full at the time of the visit. Please note we cannot accept Maestro cards. The Doctor will provide you with receipts so that you can be reimbursed by your insurance company.
