The Alpine Medical Clinic was established in 1989. In 2004, the clinic moved to the Bison Courtyard, an eco friendly building, located on Bear Street. We are committed to providing timely, friendly and a professional service to all residents from the Bow Valley, outlying communities and visitors to Banff.

Dr. Ian Macdonald

Dr. Macdonald has been practicing General Surgery, Emergency Medicine and General Practice in Banff for more than 20 years. He graduated from Glasgow University Medical Faculty in 1979 M.B.ChB, and then further trained in Emergency Medicine & Orthopaedics in London and the West of Scotland Surgical Training Scheme.

Dr. Jane Fowke

Dr. Fowke trained at the Royal Free Hospital School of medicine qualifying in 1982. In Glasgow, Scotland she completed her General Practitioner and Obstetrical training before moving to Canada with her husband in 1985. In 1988 the family moved to Banff and started the Alpine Medical Clinic soon after.

Dr. Steve Shigeishi

Dr. Steve Shigeishi went to medical school at Queen’s university in Kingston, Ontario, and was drawn out west by the mountains, and completed his Family Medicine residency at the University of Calgary in 2002.

He been with the clinic since the summer of 2003, and has been hiking, biking and skiing out here ever since.

Dr. Jeanine Jensen

Dr. Jeanine Jensen is a new in practicing physician having graduated from the University of Calgary family medicine program in June 2015. She has spent her first year in practice expanding her skill-sets in family medicine and low risk maternity care throughout Calgary and the Bow Valley. Growing up on the prairies and completing medical school at the University of Saskatchewan, Dr. Jensen enjoys travelling home to spend time with family, and loves the feel of a close knit community. In her spare time she enjoys staying active, curling and reading, and is most often found socializing with friends over coffee or wine.

Dr. James Clem

Dr. James Clem studied medicine at the University of Toronto before coming to the province of Alberta and completing his residency in Family Medicine at the University of Calgary. He has fallen in love with the Rocky Mountains and Banff has become his launchpad for adventures in the mountains.

Laura Ouellette EMT, B.Sc. Bio Psych.Clinic Manager

Laura joined the clinic in 2004 when she made to move to the Bow Valley after graduating from McMaster University.  Laura is an avid outdoor enthusiast that enjoys mountain biking, climbing, skiing and horseback riding with her husband and two young sons (proudly delivered by Dr. Fowke)

Kimberly Mclean, Front Office Manager

Kim has been working with us since 2014 as a dedicated medical receptionist and took on the role of Front Office Manager in 2016. Kim has many years of experience working in hospitality and administrative roles in Banff, but has found her niche in the health and wellness field.

When she is not working in the clinic, you are likely to see her out on the trails around Canmore or road biking in the area as she trains for long-distance triathlons.

Monica Heney-Racine B.Sc. Med. Sc.Medical Receptionist

Monica is a new addition to the clinic who recently made the move to the Bow Valley from Ottawa.  Monica is excited to gain experience in the medical field to help her on her way to a medical career herself, with an interest in psychiatry.

Jennifer McLean B.N. RN

Jen has called the Bow Valley home for 12 years. As a recent graduate from the University of Calgary, she is looking forward to expanding her skills and knowledge in nursing.

Growing up in the mountains has kept Jen active in the outdoors and she enjoys hiking with her dog and friends.

Riley Charriere B.N. Graduate Nurse

Riley studied Nursing at the University of Calgary and moved to Banff for her final practicum in 2017. She spends her time off snowboarding and loving the mountain culture.
