If you are a visitor to Banff and in need of a Doctor you can call to make an appointment or simply walk in to our clinic.
Please bring your health care card with you. Your visit will be covered under your provincial health care plan. However, if you have been out of your home province for more than 6 months you will not be covered and will have to pay for the visit.
Exception: Quebec Health Care does not have a reciprocal billing agreement with Alberta Health Care. You will be required to pay for your visit and will be provided with the paperwork to claim back through Quebec. Please still bring your Quebec Healthcare Card as we can still direct bill Lab work and x rays.
You will be required to pay for your visit. We do not like direct billing insurance companies, but if you provide us with conformation of payment we will have the insurance company pay us. If you prefer to pay we will provide you with the proper receipts so that you can be reimbursed by your insurance company.
We recommend that you contact your insurance company prior to your visit to ensure you are covered and to see if there is any specific forms they need completing, these must be brought with you. If necessary they can be faxed directly to the clinic: (001) 403 762 5797
If you are unable to make it into the Clinic we can arrange a Hotel Visit

If you have provincial health care then you must bring the original healthcare card, if you have just applied for Alberta Healthcare and are yet to receive the card then you can simply bring in the photo ID and the clinic will look the number up for you. (Note: If you do not have photo ID we cannot look up this number and you will have to pay up front.)
If you have been out of your home province for more than three months or are a non-Canadian resident on a work visa then you are eligible to apply for Alberta Healthcare. This can be obtained at the Banff Licensing Bureau now relocated at the Bison courtyard.
The Doctors at The Alpine Medical Clinic are pleased to provide a 24 hour hotel visit service to out of country patients. If you require this service please contact the clinic during office hours at 403-762-3155, or call 403-762-2294 after clinic hours.
There is a charge for this service and you are required to pay in full at the time of the visit. Please note we cannot accept Maestro cards. The Doctor will provide you with receipts so that you can be reimbursed by your insurance company.
