Dr. Macdonald has been a GP/Surgeon in Banff since 1988 He trained in General Surgery in the West of Scotland for 3 years with specialist training in vascular and Paediatric surgery. He is a Fellow of Royal College of Surgeons of England & Glasgow. He also is a Member of the Canadian Association of Gastro enterologists.
He has organized three Non-Scalpel Vasectomy conferences in Banff and has given lectures in Canada on H-Pylori, Peptic Ulcer Disease as well as Flexible Sigmoidoscopy and screening for Bowel Cancer. He is an ATLS instructor and teaches the ATLS course to Doctors.
He has over the last few years developed an interest in hernia repairs, varicose vein surgery, no scalpel vasectomy and open access endoscopy. He performs a large number of the more minor surgeries in his clinic and performs elective and emergency procedures such as appendectomies , drainage of abscesses and Cesarian Sections in the hospital.
You can be referred by your family physician, once the Clinic receives the referral you will be called to book a consultation. If you do not have a family physician then please call the clinic direct 403 762 3155.

The consultation should take no longer than 15 minutes; you will meet with Dr. Macdonald and discuss appropriate treatment options for your condition.
If it is decided that surgery is your best option, a surgery date will then be booked. Urgent surgery can be arranged within days.
Surgery requiring hospital care takes place at the Banff Mineral Springs Hospital.
Minor procedures such as no-scalpel vasectomy, circumcision & skin biopsies are performed in our office surgical suite.
